Murder, Revenge & Justice

In the early 1900s a courageous young woman challenges the prejudices of the times, becomes an attorney and fights for the disenfranchised. She joins forces with a famous attorney to defend a man accused of arranging the assassination an Idaho governor. Soon after the trial, she is faced with the prospect of defending the son of her best friend who has been accused of murder.

Richard Bennett is a master story teller. Crooked River, is a page-turner that weaves together elements and sub-elements, plots that twist and turn like his title, telling a tale of intrigue, ambition, subterfuge and ultimately murder. His characters come alive amid the stark and unforgiving backdrop of the Idaho sagebrush land around Boise, Idaho in the early 1900s where hard work is rewarded and honesty and integrity are still the bylaws of the changing landscape. If you liked his first book, Rock Creek, you will love this sequel. Five Stars
